A very important mineral, Iron is involved in many physiological processes in the body. It contributes to energy production, immune system function, blood formation, cognitive function and reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Food sources rich in iron consist of mostly wholegrain cereals, meats, fish and poultry, for vegetarians and vegans it can be tough to ensure adequate intakes of iron as although plant sources may contain iron, it is less bioavailable. But not to worry, Spirulina is a great superfood to boost iron, containing 14% of the recommended dietary intake in just 1 serve. Consuming vitamin C with iron containing foods is also another trick to help increase the absorbance of iron in the body which is why we’ve paired up our Alkalising Greens with Spirulina. Alkalising Greens contains 68% of your recommended dietary intake of vitamin C along with 10% of the recommended dietary intake for iron- that’s a double whammy!
