And trust us, these vego-friendly alternatives are so darn tasty you won’t even know they're meatless!

1. Swap Hamburgers for Mushroom Patty Burgers

You can still enjoy a hearty hamburger without meat by replacing the patty with Portobello mushroom. Mushroom has a delicious meaty texture and when marinated with herbs and spices, it makes the perfect meat-free patty substitute! Not to mention they are incredibly juicy!

Simply marinate Portobello mushrooms in minced garlic, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce and salt & pepper for at least 30 minutes then grill both sides for 5-8 minutes. Serve the Portobello mushroom patties on a hamburger bun with your favourite burger toppings. Our favourite combination is avocado, tomato, lettuce, red onion and tomato sauce!

2. Swap Spaghetti Bolognese for Lentil Bolognese

Lentil bolognese is a great veggie alternative for spaghetti bolognese made with meat. This meal offers a great source of protein thanks to the lentils and is packed full of hearty vegetables.

In a large frying pan, sauté onion, leek, carrots and garlic for 2 minutes. Add in tomato paste and red lentils and cook for 3 minutes. Pour in ½ cup of red wine and season with salt and pepper. After 2 minutes, add 2 cups vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, basil and oregano. Simmer for 25 minutes and enjoy with your favourite pasta.

3. Swap Chicken Curry for Sweet Potato and Chickpea Curry

Vegetarian curries are a fantastic meal as they offer a tasty blend of colourful vegetables rich in vitamins and nutrients. The benefit of swapping your chicken curry for this delicious sweet potato and chickpea curry is that it is rich in fibre!

Combine onion, garlic, red capsicum and cubed sweet potato into a pot and sauté with coconut oil. Add curry powder into the mix along with coconut milk and chickpeas then allow to simmer so that the flavours infuse. Serve with rice, fresh coriander and spinach for a flavoursome and delicious dinner!

4. Swap Beef Nachos for Black Bean Nachos

Nachos are one of the tastiest meals around. They are so simple to make and are packed full of exciting flavours. Swapping meat to black beans still provides a good source of protein plus a tonne of flavour!

To create the ultimate black bean mix, sauté onion, garlic and jalapenos in an oiled saucepan until softened. Transfer this into a food processor and add black beans, lime juice plus ¼ cup water. Season with salt and pepper then process the mixture until smooth. On a lined baking tray, spread out your favourite tortilla chips and place the black bean mixture on top along with cheese. Bake in the oven for 10-15 minutes at 175°C or until the cheese has melted. Serve with guacamole & salsa and you are good to go!

5. Swap Traditional Meatballs for Vegetarian Meatballs

These delicious vegetarian meatballs are made using cauliflower florets and quinoa along with a delicious array of spices.

In a food processor, pulse 3 cups of cooked Morlife® Certified Organic Quinoa Grains, 3 cups cooked cauliflower florets, 2 eggs, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder and 1/3 cup almond meal. Pulse until mixture is smooth then roll into small balls. Cook the vegetarian meatballs in an oiled saucepan until the sides are golden brown.
