Overnight oats are our favourite go-to breakfast here at Morlife, we just love how easy it is to make. This recipe is made the night before, allowing you mornings to be stress free! We’ve made Fruity Hemp Overnight Oats which is both vegan and gluten-free allowing it to be suitable for all dietary requirements. This is the perfect breakfast option to keep you energised throughout the morning thanks to the Hulled Hemp Seeds which are naturally rich in iron*.
Hemp has been well known in the health food scene for a while now, but it has only just hit the Australian scene recently. Hulled Hemp Seeds are simply hemp seeds which have had the hard outer coat removed, leaving the most nutritious and tender heart of the seed all ready for you to be enjoyed! The seeds boast an abundance of nutritional benefits which include protein, omega 3 & 6 fatty acids, plus folate, iron & vitamin E. These naturally occurring vitamins and minerals will support protection from free radicals with vitamin E, plus amino acid synthesis with folate not to mention energy production and immune function with our friend iron!
Speaking of free radicals, this scrumptious overnight oats recipe contains blueberries, which are well known for its antioxidants. We’ve also included banana and walnuts to create that fruity flavour along with cinnamon, which altogether, is a match made in heaven!
A key ingredient in overnight oat recipes is chia seeds when added to liquids, chia seeds swell and form a gel-like consistency creating a delicious pudding texture. Along with the Hulled Hemp Seeds create the perfect superfood combo! To get started, it’s just a matter of combining the ingredients together and allowing them to set overnight in the fridge. This recipe is also perfect if you are meal prepping as it will keep in the fridge for 3 days. You can customise it and use whatever you have available in the fridge, all fruits and nuts will go perfectly well!
INGREDIENTS
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 cups almond milk
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups oats
3 tbsp. Morlife Certified Organic Chia Seeds
3 tbsp. Morlife Certified Organic Hulled Hemp Seeds
1 tsp. cinnamon
Toppings
1 cup fresh blueberries
1 cup fresh blueberries
2 small bananas, sliced
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
4 tbsp. Morlife Certified Organic Hulled Hemp Seeds
INSTRUCTIONS
- Blend the first 4 ingredients together
- In a large bowl combine the remaining ingredients then stir in blended wet ingredients.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight
- In the morning, stir the oats, divide into 4 bowls or mason jars and top or layer each with ½ banana, 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts, ¼ cup blueberries and 1 tablespoon Hemp Seeds.
- Enjoy! The mixture should keep in the fridge for two to three days if you’re meal prepping
