What's inside Alkalising Greens?

Inside Alkalising Greens®: what are the ingredients and their benefits?

Alkalising Greens® helps support the body to maintain its pH by supplying green plant pigments, as well as alkalising minerals, such as Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium and Zinc, which are used by the body to maintain the pH balance.

Everyone knows greens are good for you, but what makes Alkalising Greens® better than the rest, and why do we have that weird ingredient in it, you know, the one you can’t pronounce?

Alkalising greens ingredients

What makes Alkalising Greens® so good?

Formulated by a team of nutritionists and naturopaths, Alkalising Greens® truly focuses on Alkalising, by incorporating not only a wide range of the best green ingredients but other critical elements, particularly the alkalising minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium and zinc. Furthermore, Alkalising Greens® ensures it has an appropriate balance of protein, as too much protein puts further stress on the acid-base metabolic balance.

Alkalising Greens® scientifically shows evidence of its abilities, through the use of both the PRAL and ORAC measurements, showing its alkalising potential and its antioxidant equivalency. On top of a wide range of fruits and vegetables, we have incorporated herbal extracts, prebiotic fibres, probiotics and glutamine, to ensure our product is not only beneficial for the acid/alkaline balance, but supports energy, immune function, and protection from free radicals.^

Many other greens powders on the market do not have the true alkalising focus, merely relying on the greens to do the job, or take a bucket chemistry approach to their product, where they feel, surely, a little of everything will get the job done.

With so many important ingredients, there’s a lot to say about our Alkalising Greens® formulation, so we have highlighted key inclusions and grouped some together to give you the “four-one-one”.

Ofcourse, there's a few different fruits with the different flavours we have: Lemon Lime, Acai Raspberry & Pineapple Coconut, so we are just sticking to the ingredients that are common to all 3 flavours.

alkalising greens minerals

Fortified with key minerals

Magnesium: 110mg per serve~, 34% RDI^

Magnesium is an essential dietary mineral, and the second most prevalent electrolyte in the body. In fact, every organ, especially the heart, muscles, and kidneys, needs magnesium.

Magnesium deficiencies are concerning and common in the western diet because grains are poor sources of magnesium. A good intake of Magnesium is critical as it is necessary for normal electrolyte balance, normal nerve and muscle function, teeth and bone structure, protein synthesis, and normal cell division#.

Magnesium is also beneficial in contributing to normal energy metabolism and a reduction of tiredness and fatigue#.

Zinc: 1.5mg per serve~, 13% RDI^

Zinc is an essential mineral nutritionally required by the body. Numerous aspects of body function, particularly cellular metabolism are zinc-dependent. Zinc is found in found in meat, egg, and legume products. Oysters are a particularly good source of zinc.

Vegetarians and Vegans need to be particularly aware of increasing their zinc rich foods intake as their diet can easily be insufficient. Zinc can also be lost through sweat, so is important for athletes and those exercising. Adequate Zinc intake truly is critical, as it is essential for normal immune system function and normal cell division#.

Zinc further contributes to regulation of acid-base metabolism, cell protection from free radicals, carbohydrate metabolism, fertility and reproduction, cognitive function, normal skin structure and wound healing, as well as a host of other functions in the body#.

Calcium: 150mg per serve~, 19% RDI^

Calcium is another essential mineral nutritionally required by the body, in quite large amounts. In fact, calcium is the most abundant mineral in the human body, with about 99% found in bones and teeth, with the other 1% found in the blood and soft tissue. The physiological functions of calcium are so vital to our survival that the body will stimulate bone resorption (demineralization) to maintain normal blood calcium concentrations if calcium intake is inadequate.

That being said, adequate calcium is critical for teeth and bone structure, nerve and muscle function and blood coagulation, as well as supporting energy metabolism, digestive enzyme function and cell division#.

Iron: 1.2mg per serve~, 10% RDI^

Iron is the fourth most abundant element of Earth’s crust, and another of the essential dietary minerals. Whilst it is present in a wide variety of foods, the iron found in meat (heme iron) is much more bioavailable than that found in plants (non-heme iron), making it particularly important for vegetarians and vegans. In fact, iron deficiency is the most common nutritional deficiency worldwide.

Iron is essential in the body as it is necessary for oxygen transport, immune system function, cell division and in pregnancy, neurological development in the foetus#. Likewise, iron is important as a contributing factor to energy production, blood formation, cognitive function and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue#.
