Who knew that making your own chocolate would be so easy?! On second thoughts, maybe having this knowledge is dangerous!! To celebrate World Chocolate Day on July 7th, we've put our nutritionists to work and lucky for you guys, they've created the ultimate, healthy chocolate bar!! That’s right- you heard it from us, the recipe we’re bringing you is not only healthy, bursting with antioxidant goodness but also contains fantastic superfoods!
Featuring our Certified Organic Black Maca Powder, these bars are unlike any other! Legend has it that Inca warriors consumed Black Maca before battles to help reach their full physical and mental potential. The addition of this wonderful superfood not only provides nutritional goodness but also gives the chocolate a subtle caramel-nutty flavour- YUM!
Before getting started, you’ll need a chocolate mould tray, we went with a rectangle shaped one. If you can't grab your hands on a chocolate mould tray though, you can easily use an ice cube tray for bite size pieces.
Start with melting your cacao butter using the double boiler method; you want to make sure that the butter is completely melted. The colour should go slightly see-through. Once that’s completely melted, you can add in your sweetener, we went with maple syrup, you can use whatever you have available but we do recommend sticking with a liquid so it dissolves easily.
Once your chocolate bar ingredients are all mixed together, pour into your tray then sprinkle on your favourite superfoods, nuts or fruits. If you want more textured bars, pour your chocolate bar mixture into separate bowls, and you can add in your toppings and mix them together well. Pop your chocolate into the freezer and allow it to set for at least 1 hour then you can enjoy!
The verdict: We are in love with these chocolate bars at Morlife, they’re so simple to make and absolutely melt in your mouth. Definitely a must try! They would also make the perfect home made gift for friends and family!
